This development in the up and coming Woodlawn Neighborhood is designed, built and owned by Dave Spitzer of DMS Architects. Likely the only 12.5 foot wide lot in town was consolidated with the adjacent triangular corner lot to create this unique mixed-use development which consisted of renovating an existing 100 year old bakery building for new commercial space, adding three new apartments, and refurbishing the existing single-family house on the same lot. The sustainable design incorporates solar hot water/PV, spray-in insulation, a green roof, previous pavers, and storm water planters to help limit the project’s impact on the environment. A landscaped courtyard, exposed wood roof framing, and overhead doors opening the interior to sidewalk seating add a sense of warmth and community connectivity to the development.
