Hakoya is an innovative mixed use building in Portland’s rapidly redeveloping Boise Neighborhood, the Japanese derived name inspired by the cubic mass of the upper floors visually floating over an all glass ground floor. It features ground floor commercial space fronting the busy Williams Ave corridor, with six townhouse lofts above. A reclaimed brownfield site, DMS coordinated the extensive environmental engineering requirements and the city’s design review criteria to create a dynamic addition to this areas transformation. Hakoya Lofts was designed in collaboration with Sakura Urban Concepts.
